In past years, the theater department has put months of hard work into producing a show that they can be proud of. This year that hard work will be recognized, as drama teacher and director Mrs. Nicole Voss has applied for the fall play “The Diviners” to be considered for performance at the Missouri State Thespian Conference at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel on Jan. 10-12.
The show, running in Central’s auditorium Nov. 1-3, is about a young boy in 1930’s America named Buddy Layman, who suffers from brain trauma after nearly drowning in the same accident that killed his mother. He meets C.C. Showers, an ex-pastor, who helps him confront his consequential fear of water.
“I felt it was the right time, the right group of students, the right show and location,”Voss said of the state application. The cast is very talented and mature enough to handle a state performance,” Voss said.
