Exuberant, screaming fans, gleaming lights on the pristine field, and a football team that annihilates anyone they play. This scene depicts a typical Central Friday night football game. 41-10, 49-0, 56-10, 49-0, 44-0 these are just some of the blowouts that the Central football team has accomplished this year. Although we have played one competitive game this year, Central fans still stay true to their school. Attendance for home games this year is higher than since the seniors can remember and the general amount of cheering and excitement at the games is through the metaphorical roof.
“Even though the game is a blowout, it’s still fun to go to the game and cheer for your friends” senior Connor Kraus explained. “Also, it is fun to hangout with your friends. I expect these exciting crowds at our basketball games this winter.”
School spirit is at an all time high regardless of how much our football team destroys our weekly opponent. For once, the team can expect fan enthusiasm.
“I love school spirit and I am very loud” senior Katie Rembold said. “Being a varsity athlete, I know how helpful it is when people cheer me on, so I feel like our football team must love the enthusiasm and support coming from the student section.
Regardless of the competitiveness of Friday night football games, students still enjoy the opportunity to come together and root for their team. Hopefully, we will take this opportunity to continue our school spirit apply it to more sports across the school.
