How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle

Start by changing your mindset. You won’t be able to accomplish anything unless you put your mind to it and dedicate yourself. The reason that it is called a lifestyle is because it is something you practice every day.

A trip to the grocery store is definitely necessary. In order to replace the Cheetos, Chips Ahoy, and fruit snacks, you’ll have to visit the produce aisle of the grocery store. Here you will find fresh fruits and vegetables which are significantly healthier than junk food. Other things to incorporate in your diet include nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios, etc), green vegetables, and healthy fats like avocado, fish, etc. Some people say that in order to get in shape, 30% work must be done in the gym and 70% in the kitchen. The foods going into your body are extremely important and impact your exterior appearance greatly.

Portion control, portion control, portion control. Eating healthy foods that are high in protein are good. However, if you over do it, it can have the opposite effect. This goes for any food. Eating in moderation is a good rule to live by so you don’t eat three cartons of strawberries and then wonder why your stomach hurts.

Personally, I despise the gym so I search for any other alternative possible. Walking around your neighborhood when it’s nice weather, bike riding instead of driving, and even doing some lunges and jumping jacks in your room can make a big difference. Getting your heart pumping for at least 30 minutes a day can make you feel more energetic and happy because of the natural endorphins released when you exert energy.

Lastly, the most important part of achieving a healthy lifestyle is to KEEP GOING! The hardest part is being consistent and having self control. A commonly known fact is that it takes 30 days to form a habit. Setting this 30 day mark as your goal will be very beneficial. Eventually, once this new lifestyle becomes a habit, it will become easier and built into your daily life.
