Lamar Jackson breaks the single season rushing record for a single season in his win over the New York Jets on December 11, 2019. With a strong campaign to become the NFL MVP, the Baltimore Ravens have been unstoppable this year with Jackson leading the charge.

Jackson surpassed Michael Vick’s single season rushing record for a quarterback on an option to the right gaining five yards. He broke Vick’s record in just his second season in the NFL, and it looks as if he has no signs of stopping anytime soon. Not only did Jackson break the record he helped the Raven clinch the AFC North division and improving their record 12-2 with two games remaining. Leading the charge with his usual incredible performance Jackson threw five touchdown passes and 212 yards passing while rushing for 86 yards on eight carries. Continuing to prove people wrong Jackson is leading with 33 touchdown passes and rushing for seven touchdowns. Proving his case for MVP, Jackson has beat some of the most talented quarterbacks in the league such as Tom Brady, Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson and last years reigning MVP Partrick Mahomes. Showing that he can play with and beat the best is just adding to his campaign.

In a video on Michael Vick’s Instagram he had this to say, ““Lamar, I just want to say congratulations on making history. One of many milestones that you will surpass in your career. Best of luck in everything that you do. You deserve it. Keep up the hard work, and I’ll always be rooting for you,” Vick said.

Vick was Jackson’s childhood idle and to hear that from one of the great quarterbacks and the best rushing quarterback of all time is a huge accomplishment. Jackson has been doubted his whole career such as people telling him to switch to wide receiver or play running back, he can’t throw at the pro level and he won’t succeed. But here he is shining in the opportunity he was given and not looking back. Look out because Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are coming for the chip.
