On Feb.10, Parkway Central celebrated its fifth ever Dance Marathon. In total, the Parkway Central community raised over $100,000 towards children and the families of children who need extensive medical care at Children’s Hospital. This year the record was broken by approximately $3,000 for the amount of money collected in one year. This year, $34,299.05 was raised.
New additions of a bounce house, field games, a photo booth and the shaving of Principal Tim McCarthy’s head brought the crowds. Additionally, four families spoke about their stories and the help that Dance Marathon grants them.
Students participated through organizing the event, being a part of the Mr. PCH pageant or just donating. Senior Mitchel Smith competed in the Mr. PCH pageant as Mr. Student Council and found it rewarding.
“I think it’s fun,” Smith said. “We get to do the dance practice which I think is fun and collect donations for a good cause, which I think is important and I think it’s fulfilling.”
