The 2024 season did not go as ideally as the Parkway Central Colts wanted it to, as they finished with a losing record and lost in the second round of districts. But this year, the Colts are coming out with a chip on their shoulder and are off to a hot 5-1 start to the 2025 season.
Players Levi Markwell, Matthew Lynn, Jackson Sasfai and Jay Adams are all starters for the Colts this year and have very high hopes and different perspectives on the team after a hot start to kick off the 2025 fall soccer season.
Levi Markwell, a senior at Parkway Central, is one of the leading captains of the team and hopes for a fun and good year with the team in his last year with the Colts.
“I see this upcoming season as a growth season, finally being one of the oldest on the team, I plan to lead my teammates and shape them into their best possible selves. My goals for me and the team this year are to just have fun and enjoy my final year of high school soccer,” Markwell said.
Several new members are joining the Colts soccer team this year, as many juniors played JV last year and are making the step up to playing varsity. Matthew Lynn, senior, is very excited for his first and last year playing varsity soccer.
“ I think I have improved a lot and I’m really looking forward to the varsity experience,” Lynn said.
Brian Adam, the head varsity soccer coach at Parkway Central, tries to improve his players the best he can every season and does his best to help them play college soccer. Several players on the team see him as a role model and a great coach.
“BA motivates me to be a better player because he holds me to a high standard, always bettering me at practice,” Markwell said.
Coach BA lacks nothing when it comes to dedication and intensity in season, pushing his players to the best of their ability and giving his team the best chance to win. Jay Adams, a senior, talks more about him.
“My coach motivates me to play better because of his love for the game and the intensity he brings,” Adams said.
Despite losing several outstanding seniors in the past few seasons, the Colts are off to one of their best starts in a while, having beaten a very good Lafayette team and contending with two other great teams, Parkway West and Chaminade. Jackson Sasfai, a junior defenseman, is really excited about his returning teammates and the potential this season has.
“I’m excited that we have our entire defense returning from last year, and we also have a good amount of underclassmen on the team.” said Sasfai.
