Thanks to the district’s new system of Campus Technology Access, students may now begin to utilize Parkway’s wireless network. Effective today, the student body is able to link its devices to the school’s network for Internet usage during class.
According to Parkway, the district “recognizes the value that internet connected technology devices add to the educational experience of all students.” As a result, students are currently able to take out their phones, iPods, or laptops when considered appropriate by teachers.
Students will have restrictions to the network similar to the ones that have existed on in-school devices in the past. Users will continue to be forbidden from websites such as Facebook and YouTube, and the district stresses that no privacy can be expected of students. Furthermore, Parkway has the right to take disciplinary action towards any violations of the code of conduct.
