Senior goalie Andrew Chekadanov was recognized as Missouri class 2 player of the year and First team All-American and one of six goalkeepers throughout the country.
“I feel pretty honored. It’s a big deal, I think I am only the second person to receive the award from this school,” Senior Andrew Chekadanov said.“It definitely feels good to be recognized (for my play).”
He will travel to Indianapolis on January 16th with his sister to receive his All-American award.
“Well its awesome as a testament to Chek and his abilities,” Coach Brian Adam said.
Chekadanov worked hard in the off-season and throughout the season as well to make himself better.
“I just worked hard in goal with my preparation and I worked my tail off this summer,” Chekadanov said.
Chekadanov decided to play exclusively goalie late in his high school career as a Junior. This late commitment made it harder for colleges to see his talents. Coach Adam’s stated he would like Chekadanov to continue playing soccer past high school.
“I would love to see him continue to play. He got into playing keeper late and hopefully some colleges will figure out that he will be a great find,” Adam said.
