[wzslider]Once a year the orchestra and choir have a chance to perform together at the Masterworks concert. On Feb. 5 at Manchester Methodist Church, Concert Orchestra I and II performed Farandole from L’Arliesienne and Carnival of the Animals. Symphonic Orchestra, Concert choir, Concert chorale and Chamber Choir performed Motzart’s Requiem.
“It’s amazing that different music groups can come together to make something so amazing,” sophomore Amudha Porchezhian said.
Porchezhian says it was a lot of work but worth the experience.
“Once you see everyone and you’re with all the grades, it’s really cool,” freshman Madeline Finkelstein said. She says about three-fourths of their rehearsals were working on their piece for the concert.
“We really don’t have an opportunity to play together much and this allows us to do that,” senior Adam McDonald said.
McDonald says more people should come see this concert, but that it might be difficult because it’s held in a location unfamiliar to many.
The symphonic orchestra competed in the state competition and had about two weeks to prepare their piece, while choir began rehearsing before winter break.
“It was a lot of work, but worth it,” Porchezhian said.
