By this point, most of us are probably pretty sick of looking for prom dresses, figuring out prom plans, and all of the “prama” that ensues at this time. All of the small stresses, plus the multiple expenditures of prom can lead one to question whether prom is really worth the cost.
First let’s address the process of finding and purchasing a dress. Trying on fifty billion dresses in a rush (so you don’t aggravate those you’re with) is a stress itself. If a dress doesn’t look right you get discouraged, or you’ll find one you really love and it’ll be $400 to $500. It’s so annoying. But things are worth it when you find that one dress that is a reasonable price and makes you work your inner Kate Middleton.
Then there’s the annoyance guys have to go through trying to figure out and rent the right color tux. The people at the tux store ask the guys a billion questions they don’t necessarily know the answers to. Props to some guys for going in semi-blind and picking the right color too. I’m not sure of the price of a tux rental, but I’m sure it’s not the best thing for your wallet either. Also, props to guys for dishing out $130 for the tickets.
Next, the “prama.” Sometimes the stress of planning photo groups and tables for the dance can make tension high and cooperation low. However, this problem can be solved fairly easily if everyone takes a deep breath and focuses on the actual fun parts of prom and prom planning.
Phew. Glad that part’s over.
Anyway, I really do think prom is worth the cost. Just think about how much fun it’ll be to dance with your friends and eat some high quality food.
For girls, once you find that dress, actually wearing it and getting dressed up is fun for the most part. And for the guys, you’re the ones that choose to ask people to prom, so obviously, somewhere in your subconscious, you think prom is worth the cost.
The main point is that prom will end up being fun, so everyone just forget the “prama” and little worries and enjoy yourselves! Aw sentimental.
