The empty spots in the parking lot will be filled now that sophomores will be allowed to purchase parking passes for the first time at Parkway Central.
“Traditionally, we’ve only allowed juniors and seniors to purchase passes, but we’d like to have at least some option for Sophomores to drive,” sophomore grade level principal Mr. Travis Fast said.
The amount of passes that will be available will be determined after the administration figures out how many parking spots are still available.
“With this being the first year we’ve explored parking for sophomores, our plans are subject to change, but at this point, we are determining how many spots we have available and will soon work on figuring out how many sophomores are interested in buying a pass,” Fast said.
This change will help out sophomores that have already turned sixteen and were looking to save time in the morning and afternoon.
“The reason I drive to school is because it’s more convenient for my parents and I, and also I can leave my house whenever I want without being rushed,” sophomore Danielle Feigenbaum said. “The advantages are being able to sleep in and not having to worry about missing your bus.”
Although they have not allowed parking to sophomores yet, Fast does not believe that it will significantly affect traffic.
Along with allowing sophomores the opportunity to drive the administration is also making sure that all students that are parking in the lot have purchased a parking pass.
“Part of determining how much space we have has been increasing our focus on verifying parking passes. We plan to maintain this increased focus throughout the year,” Fast said.
