Homecoming week is a time of high spirits for Parkway Central. Each day of the week has a different theme, and students are encouraged to participate in each day. In addition to the theme days, after school events take place.
Wednesday evening is the class games, the school pep rally is at the end of the day Friday, and the Homecoming football game is Friday night. Student Council sponsor Mrs. Sarah Leuken looks forward to these events.
“The class games are an opportunity for some friendly competition,” Leuken said, “and Friday night will be a fun rival Homecoming game against Parkway West.”
The rest of the week’s themes are as following:
Tuesday – STL Sports
Wednesday – Class color day
Thursday – Class theme day
Friday – PCH Spirit day
Students are encouraged to participate in each day. Senior Student Council delegate Sam Zang encourages student involvement.
“It shows school spirit when you dress up, and it really brings the school together,” Zang said.
The overall Homecoming theme is Dancing Through the Decades. The freshman decade is the 1970’s, the sophomore decade is the 1980’s, the junior decade is 1990’s, and the senior decade is the 1960’s. Each class has a color as well. Seniors are black, juniors are white, sophomores are neon pink, and freshmen are neon green.
The week of celebration will come to an end on Saturday night with the Homecoming dance.
“The dance on Saturday will be fun, and it’ll be great to see everyone dressed up,” Leuken said.
