The newest comedy on Fox is Brooklyn 99 and calling this cop show a comedy is an understatement.
Brooklyn 99 is a laugh out loud kind of show that makes viewers ready for every Tuesday night, and there have only been three episodes so far.
The show stars Andy Samberg from the comedy song trio The Lonely Island, and he was also a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Samberg plays Jake Peralta an immature but talented detective. His character keeps viewers on their toes waiting for his next joke or slapstick comedy scene.
The main conflict of the show is between Captain Ray Holt (played by Andre Braugher) who is an openly gay police chief who is getting his first chance to command a precinct fights with Peralta to comply with his strict rules.
An example of this conflict is in the pilot episode when Holt tries to get Peralta to wear a tie. To get under the captains skin Peralta wears a dress shirt and tie but accompanies it with a speedo.
Peralta also engages in a competition between co-worker Amy Santiago (played by Melissa Fumero) to see which detective can have the most busts. On the line for Santiago is Peralta’s car, but if Peralta wins Santiago must go on a date with Peralta.
Other characters that add some laughs to the show are Terry Jeffords (played by Terry Crews) and Charles Boyle (played by Joe Lo Truglio), these guys add to the antics that occur in the precinct and also aid in the busts.
