The film relays the story of Jerusalem through its glory and diversity, illuminating public response and acceptance. The movie is an exceptional display of the cultural, spiritual, and historical impact of Jerusalem and promotes tolerance, acceptance, and partnership between Christians, Jews, and Muslims.
Students react to the magnificent culture and diversity portrayed in the movie.
“I loved the movie because it taught me things I didn’t know about the city and my own culture,” freshman Zoe Tesser explained. “It made me realize how people with different backgrounds and religions can be so similar, without even knowing it.”
Other students are surprised by the blending of religion and culture.
“I really enjoyed seeing the different perspective from the Christian and Muslim point of view,
junior Kyla Gersten said. “I’ve seen Jerusalem multiple times from the Jewish perspective but I’ve honestly never thought about how it was to live there for the other religions.”
These cultural combinations fuel the desire to see Israel.
“I never knew Judaism, Islam, and Christianity could be intertwined until I saw this movie,” freshman Jessie Goldberg said. “I most definitely want to visit Israel now to see these sights for myself.”
The differences between the cultures are part of the magnificent glory of Jerusalem.
“Seeing all of the religions presented together made me truly appreciate and understand Jerusalem as a whole,” Gersten explained. “It gave me a whole new understanding of the city and now I truly understand now how everyone is simply trying to live their lives in peace among the other people of the city.”
Overall the Jerusalem Movie is a magnificent documentary that outlines the diverse culture of Jerusalem. It provides an accurate description of the three religions that occupy the “Heart of the World”.
