Freshman Josh Adams, cello player since 4th grade, is one of two freshman in Concert Orchestra II this year, yet he is concertmaster cello, meaning he sits first chair.
“I’ve really enjoyed being in Concert II this year because I have met a lot of new people,” Adams said. “It’s not too much harder than 8th grade and the music material is nice.”
Adams’ stand partner, senior Matthew Buffum, has noticed Josh’s impact on the whole orchestra.
“Josh is really good; he’s an all around great player,” Buffum said. “You can tell he puts a lot of work into his passion. It challenges me to play my best, but we still have fun.”
Orchestra teacher Mrs. Winifred Crock contributes his success to his family and hard work.
“Josh is marvelous; he truly has innate ability,” Crock said. “He comes from wonderful musical training and a musical family. His brothers and mother are musicians which provided for a great musical environment. Anytime you have someone of that caliber it makes the whole class better.”
Adams is a Missouri All-State cello member and receive honorable mention for trombone, yet his favorite part of his musical experience is in class.
“My favorite part of Orchestra is our everyday rehearsals,” Adams said. “I just love to play my instrument.”
