Playing in the first round of sectionals, the girls tennis team lost to Marquette in a tight tie breaker on Saturday morning.
“Its kind of upsetting,” sophomore Rebecca Davis said. “We were all kind of hoping we were going to make it to state and it just means we will have to try harder next year.”
The team lost to Marquette by a score of 5-4. Before losing to Marquette, the team defeated Francis Howell North 5-2 to take the district championship.
“Last year we didn’t make state either and this year we were close,” Davis said. “We all played well we just didn’t pull it out.”
No individual or pair of doubles advanced either, as Davis and sophomore Elena Wilner attempted to return to state after making it as freshman.
