Sophomore Emily Currington suffers from Ehlers Danlos syndrome (EDS) hypermobility, a disorder which affects shallow joints and which causes dislocation.
“It affects mostly my knees,” Currington said. “It causes pain in the morning and spontaneous dislocation, usually at the worst times.”
While it also causes severe pain, Currington also struggles with its impact on her athletic life.
“Usually it stops me from being able to go running, but there’s still times that I’m able to go out and do that,” Currington said.
However, she deals with the disorder in a positive manner and doesn’t let it define who she really is.

I have what she has, it’s not well known but it’s Eds type 3 or the hyper mobile type. It impacts me pretty hard because i have many medical issues due to this.
