Boys Cross Country

10/28 This weekend boy’s and girl’s cross country teams competed in districts. Both teams came in 5th place. The Boy’s team  had four runners qualify for sections; Rodney Walton, Scott Coulson, Conlon Smith and Stephen He. The girl’s team also had four runners qualify for state; Taylor Burlis, Elizabeth Gibson, Claire Huang and Sarah Madsen.

10/21 There was no meet this past week in cross country. Both levels of cross country participated in “Taper Week.” Taper week is where the runners run for less mileage at a faster speed, to be in the best condition for districts and sectionals. This Saturday, districts begin here at Parkway Central.

10/14 All levels of cross country competed in the conference race held in North County at St. Vincent Park. Girls varsity and JV, as well as boys varsity finished in fourth place of their respective divisions. JV seniors Rachel Morris and Julia Goldman finished in their top ten, as did varsity competitors senior Scott Coulson and freshman Charlie McIntyre. Except for the informal competition with Parkway West this Wednesday, Oct.16, the teams will only be preparing for their district meet on Saturday, Oct. 26.

10/7 Boys Cross Country competed in the Parkway West Invitational this Saturday and ran to a 7 place finish.  Individually, senior Scott Coulson placed 28 in the 5000 meter run with a time of 17: 19.  In addition, the team had three runners that placed within the top 50 including sophomores Rodney Walton and Conlon Smith, and junior Eric Ballesteros.  This Saturday the team will run for the Conference Title at St. Vincent Park in University City.

9/30 On Sept. 28, girls cross country traveled to Jefferson Barracks Park for the Hancock Invitational. Girls varsity placed 11th out of 26 teams and girls JV placed seventh out of 26 teams. Because they did not compete in any meets, boys cross country practiced eight times within six days. This week, boys cross country will travel to Priory for the Ladue and Priory Invitational  and girls cross country will travel to Living World Church for the West Invitational. Both events will take place on Oct. 5.

9/23 On Thursday, September 19, Central cross country hosted the Central Invitational. Both girls varsity and junior varsity teams placed third in their overall divisions, with freshen girls placing fourth. Boys varsity placed seventh and JV placed fourth, with sophomore Rodney Walton placing first out of all the competing JV boys. This week, runners are preparing for Saturday’s Hancock Place High School 51st Annual cross country invitational at Jefferson Barracks Park.

9/16 Both boys and girls cross country teams participated in the Forest Park Cross Country Festival hosted by St. Louis High School. The boys team placed 24th out of 37 teams from around Missouri and Illinois. Senior Scott Coulson placed 41st and breaking his personal record. Freshman Tirzah Williams placed 71st overall in the girls race and first for the colts.

9/9 Boys cross country participated in the Webster invitational on Thursday at Blackburn park where they got 7th. It was a unique occasion where JV runners ran varsity. Charlie McIntyre ran for the freshman squad and won in a tight race. Both boys and girls cross country ran in the parkway quad hosted by Parkway West at Living Word Church on Friday. Scott Coulson won the race leading the boys team to a third place finish. The girls team finished second with Elizabeth Gibson finishing third in the race.

8/29 Both of the boys and girls cross country teams ran in a meet sponsored by Fleet Feet. The meet was held at Central, however due to the extreme heat, a shorter course than usual was used. The boys team came in 4th place overall out of 13 teams. Two freshman runners, Charlie McIntyre and Daniel Kim, placed in the top 10 in their respective race and division. The girls team also came in 4th place out of 18 teams.
