3/5 A 22 point night from senior Zoe Wallis wasn’t enough to push the Lady Colts past Parkway North as the girls varsity basketball team fell to the Vikings 47-35. Christie Bergesch and Chyna Moore aided the scoring for Central with 6 points a piece. The Lady Colts end their season with a 15-10 record.

2/27 Defeating Clayton, the Lady Colts took a 56-38 win. Seniors Zoe Wallis and Christie Bergesch scored 20 points and 14 points, respectively. As it was senior night for the team, the gym was decorated and players presented roses to their parents and the Clayton seniors in a ceremony before the game. Overall, Clayton hung with the team initially, with Central taking it away in the fourth quarter.

2/26 Defeating Seckman, seniors Zoe Wallis and Christie Bergesch score 19 and 10, respectively, propelling the Lady Colts to a 54-29 win. Senior night takes place Thursday, Feb.  27 against Clayton, with the district tournament beginning Tuesday, Mar. 4 against Parkway North.

2/21 The Lady Colts defeated University City on Friday, Feb. 20 by 50 points, the final score being 63-13. The girls will play in home games on Tuesday, Feb. 25 against Seckman and Thursday, Feb. 27 against Clayton. Thursday will be Senior Night, and the seniors, including senior Zoe Wallis, urge their peers to attend their final home game.

1/30 The Lady Colts played at home against Hazelwood Central on Wednesday. Getting off to a slow start, the team fell behind by 6 at halftime. They bounced back in the second half behind Zoe Wallis, who lead the team with 12 points. According to senior Christie Bergesch, they played with better energy. Despite the effort, they still lost by a final score of 45-39.

1/25 The Lady Colts finished off its winning week with another victory against Summit on Friday, Jan. 24. The final score of the game, hosted at Summit, was 49-28. According to senior player Zoe Wallis, the team came together well to bring in a win for each game this week. In the next week, the team will host a tournament with its first game on Monday, where they will play Jennings.

1/23 The Lady Colts added another victory to the win column Thursday night against Hazelwood West. The Colts defeated the Wildcats pretty handily by a score of 42-11. Senior Zoe Wallis posted a team high 20 points, while fellow senior Christie Bergesch scored 11 points, and sophomore Lauren Greenstein added 8 points. Their next game is Friday against Rockwood Summit.

1/14  Losing their previous game to Kirkwood, the Lady Colts  finished strong against the Mehlville Panthers (5-6), defeating them 59-35. The Colts look for their next win as they host rival Parkway North this Friday, with action beginning at 5:30.

12/14  The Lady Colts won all three of their games this week against Fort Zumwalt North, Fort Zumwalt East, and Marquette. Friday night’s game against Marquette was close, with the girls pulling ahead in over time to win 63-59.

“Everyone really stepped up this week and played big,” senior Zoe Wallis said.

The team will not compete over the course of finals week, but will continue to practice in preparation for the MICDS tournament that will span from Dec. 26 to Jan.3.

12/9 The girls basketball team scored another win, this time against Fort Zumwalt North 51-38.  Seniors Shannon Long and Tasha Frazier helped secure this win by shutting down Zumwalt’s star player.

According to senior Christie Bergesch, the game got off to a slow start for the Colts, but picked up later on as they took the lead.

“We’ve really come together not only as a team this year, but as a family,” senior Zoë Wallis said. “We have a lot of new faces to varsity this year and the girls are doing a fantastic job transitioning to the speed of the varsity game. I can’t wait for the rest of the season to see how we progress.”

Tomorrow, they will travel to St. Peters to face Fort Zumwalt East, hopefully continuing their winning streak.

12/6 The Lady Colts lost at Parkway North, the number six team in the area, 59-26. Christie Bergesch led the way for the lady colts with 8 points and a steal. Six players were involved in scoring for the lady colts.

12/4  The Lady Colts defeated Parkway West 53-35. Senior Zoe Wallis led the Colts with 18 points and 4 blocks. A clutch performance from Melanie Wasserman was key: 8 points, 2-2 from 3-point range. The Colts held the Longhorns to four players scoring.

12/2 Tonight the Lady Colts traveled to Parkway South to play in the G. Linneman tip-off tournament, also known as the Parkway tournament. Although the Colt’s were up by 12 at half, South ending up winning 52-48. Brittany Thomas was the leading scorer for South with 17 points, while Senior Christie Bergesch was the leading scorer for Central with 15 points. Although the girls did not win, varsity Coach Brian Guilfoyle is proud of his team.

“I feel like the girls played really hard tonight and we can only improve from here,” Guilfoyle said.

The girls will host their season opener against Parkway West this Wednesday at 5:30.
