A Taste Of New York City

Tori Favazza, Staff Writer

New York City is home to many cultures; Mexican, Italian, Asian, Persian, the list can go on and on. With hundreds of restaurants located in New York City, one can find at least one restaurant with a menu matching their ethnicity and culture, whether it be tacos or croissants. The Petrossian Boutique and Cafe, located on 911 Seventh Ave, is a French-inspired cafe with fresh caviar, fish, bread and pastries. The bread is homemade in the boutique, and the menu sticks to its French roots. The overall environment was small, comfortable, and classy, with beautiful photographs of food on the walls. I ordered a combination of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, and apple bacon with a croissant. The coffee was fresh, strong and hot, in my opinion, better than Starbucks. My breakfast was amazing. The eggs were soft and light, cooked incredibly well, and not one bite was cold. The smoked salmon, though I thought odd for a breakfast, was incredibly good and well-brined with a light salty taste. I thought it interesting that the salmon and scrambled eggs were such a great combination; normally it’s tricky to put those two foods together. I am personally very picky when it comes to bacon, it can’t be over-cooked or too chewy, and I really don’t prefer it when bacon is exceptionally greasy. The bacon at Petrossian Boutique and Cafe was cooked to the perfect texture and consistency between chewy and crisp. I didn’t have much residue on my hands from any sort of extra fat. The croissant was probably the best part of the breakfast, with the outside being flaky and sweet and the inside soft and warm. Neither butter or jelly was needed to make it better. Overall, the breakfast was amazing, the atmosphere was quaint and perfect and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting New York City.
