April 1 is a notorious date on the American calendars for one reason only: April Fool’s day. Also known as “All Fool’s Day”, the origin of this holiday are relatively unknown.

Some say that April Fool’s Day goes all the way back to 1582 when France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. This translated to becoming the day of pranks and jokes because the people slow to receive the news of the new calendar decided on January 1 as being the new start of the year. However, continuing to celebrate France’s new year in the beginning of April despite having our own, became the butt of the jokes. Another traced origin has been linked to festivals celebrated in ancient Rome at the end of March involving dressing up in disguises.

As we know, these histories have been long overlooked in spite of the new traditions to prank our friends and family members. In lou of being right around the corner, here are a few prank ideas to get you all set up to pull off some mischief!

  1. Short-sheet Your Family

Short -sheeting is a way to fold sheets on a bed so that anyone climbing into it will be unable to stretch their legs out beyond the middle and they’ll get stuck. It looks completely normal from the outside of the bed so they won’t suspect a thing.

  1.  Peeling Wallpaper Prank

To pull this prank off, all you have to do is rip a rough diamond shape out of construction paper and fold it in half. Then you use double sided tape and adhere one side of the paper onto a wall in the house covered in wallpaper. This provides the look of the wallpaper unfortunately peeling off the walls which is sure to stress out your mom.

  1. Fake Insects

A classic go-to joke, especially as a kid, is to bring fake plastic insects to school or to show your friends to scare your teacher and cause chaos in the classroom.

  1.  Toothpaste in Oreos

This infamous prank has circulated very widely across the internet and serves as a good laugh when you trick your friend. For this, just take an oreo, lick out the cream, and smother some white toothpaste in the centers. Your friend will get an unexpected, undesirable cookie, and you even got some oreo creme out of it!

  1. Move Things to the Right

This subtle prank will annoy everyone in your family if you pull it off casually enough. By moving everything in your house, or just one respective room, a few inches to the right, your family members muscle memory will be sure to cause them a few stubbed toes or accidental run-ins throughout the day.

Of course, there are countless prank ideas posted all over sites like Reddit, Pinterest, Instagram, etc., but these are just a few you can try out. But be careful not to get caught!
