- Nicole Bunte, setter, sets the ball to Jenny Wang, outside hitter, during the second game of Tuesday’s match against Pattonville. Central won the match in 2 games.
The varsity girls volleyball team brought their record to 3-3 this year in a home match up last night with the Pattonville Pirates. In the first game, it started out rough, with the Pirates getting out to a 4-2 lead, but after a Colts timeout, they got restarted and the home team never looked back.
Ashley Farris reeled off a nice string of serves to get the Colts back up to a 10-4 lead. They ended up winning the first game easily.
“I’ve been real happy with our hustle this year, and I have really liked our defensive game,” Tom Schaefer, head varsity coach, said.
Zoe Wallis, junior opposite side hitter, said the team is looking very good this year, and the team is very close.
“We’ve really stepped up to the level of the higher teams, but we need to stay to our potential and not play down to other teams.”
