Letter From the Editor
December 13, 2019
Welcome reader to the third issue of the Parkway Central Corral.
As this decade comes to an end , it was the idea of our very own Taylor Stern to use the issue to look back at the 2010s and all the things they gave us.
Unlike the last issue where we had a bunch of topic-related stories leading up to the cover spread, this time we have a “Decade Recap” story in each section.
Taylor has written an opinion on what distinguishes this decade on page four. She has also organized the entire cover topic this issue and created the cover spread (pages 12 and 13).
Copy Editor Sydney Stahlschmidt has a news-related Decade Recap on page eight. taking a look at important events through the decade.
On page 14, Online Managing Editor Alex Maisenhelder highlights what he thinks are some of the most memorable moments in sports throughout the decade.
After that, Op/Ed Editor Trey Williams has his pop culture and entertainment recap on page 15, taking a look at some of the shifts we’ve had in media.
Finally we’ve got Managing Editor Abby Prywitch’s features section recap on page 19. She takes a look at the most influential people throughout the decade.
I’m enormously happy with how they’ve carried on, these writers and editors have organized this largely on their own. Having followed their progress, I think our readers will really like this issue.
Additionally, we’ve got some other great stories this issue.
Sawyer Lownsdale wrote the “Spotlight” this issue. The Spotlight this time is on Shamus Landry and Matt Mendel as they strive to play college football.
Speaking of features, Abby Prywitch has really outdone herself this time. Abby managed to interview World Series champion and PCH’s very own, Max Scherzer. A big achievement for Abby and for the paper itself, we’re very proud of her.
Returning this issue, also, is our Restaurant Rivalry on page 16 and 17, this time. Reviewing donuts, but this time with a detective-noir twist, certain to intrigue and delight. Trey and Alex really had fun with this one.
Overall, we’ve got a great issue this time. We actually had trouble fitting all the stories in the issue, for once. A pleasant problem resulting from an abundance of great stories by talented writers. Keep in mind you can still send letters to [email protected].
I hope you enjoy the issue.
Sincerely,
Wesley Henshaw
Editor-in-Chief of the PCH Corral
