As girls’ lacrosse season comes to an end, players begin to reflect on their performance this year. Anna Aslin, a senior, continued to work on something new throughout the pre-season with her teammates.

“Coach Karfs introduced “offensive theatre” to us and that’s something we’ve continued to work on throughout the season,” Aslin said.

A normal day of practice for the girls typically consists of stretching, running, and working on any challenges they faced in the last game.

“We warm up with passes, then running a lap around the field, doing dynamic stretches as a whole program, and then we’ll split off in V/JV/C and work on our own things,” Aslin said

Many of the girls have worked on this as well as their own personal goals.

“Personally I just wanted to work on increasing my stamina but also to continue to grow my lacrosse IQ,” Aslin said. “Just things like making smart passes and plays and using everything I’ve learned throughout my career as tools to keep growing,”

Stamina seems to be the skill that most girls like Alie Simmons, a sophomore, have worked hard to improve this season. Simmons not only had goals for herself but for the team as well.

“As a team, I think we have improved on working together during practice and learning how to work with each other,” Simmons said.

Simmons and Aslin have seen noticeable growth from every position.

“Our defensive end has grown so much this season and they always impress me with their ability to keep track of the ball and crash when needed,” Aslin said. “I think our midfield transition got a lot better last year and that has rolled over and continued to improve this season,”

Every team always has one area where improvement is needed, yet the Colts have stayed on top of adjusting their rough spot.

“We need to work on playing cleaner, we’ve definitely had our fair share of yellow cards but you can’t blame us because we are hungry for that ball,” Aslin said.

Team bonding has effectively helped the team on the field during practices and games.

“Team bonding has made us grow together as a team and the dynamic is really good so we work well on and off the field,” Simmons said.

The girls work together and help inspire each other to become the best they can be.

“I admire Bailey Koestel so much. Her stick skills and dodging always impresses me and she was somebody who definitely motivated me to start playing club last year and it made all the difference in my play,” Aslin said.

The girls have bonded as a team and are expecting good things for next year’s season.
