February—the month of love. While Parkway Central fills the air with warmth and kindness, have you ever noticed the hidden hearts scattered across the walls? If you look very closely, you can find that love really is all around—from student drawings created years ago to chipped flooring that creates art.
1. Ella Muran (12) agrees with Emily Heller (12) that Valentine’s Day could be a selective holiday. “If you have a Valentine, you wouldn’t find it overrated,” Muran said. “But for people who don’t, it’s just overrated.”

2. Heart-shaped fracture: this symbolic fracture on the floor, located on top of the ramp hallway, reveals a heart-shaped dent. Emily Heller (12) admits that Valentine’s could be very selective because “not everyone has a Valentine”, but she is looking forward to “spending it with [her] friends” instead.

3. Can you spot the heart? A hidden red heart is displayed on the roof of a building at the back wall painting in the PCH library. Red hearts are known for representing Valentine’s Day, but, as Xavier Marshall (12) said, not everyone has a good day. “Valentine’s Day is a great day for people who have Valentine’s. But let’s be honest, if you don’t have one you’re kinda screwed,” Marshall said.

4. Kyleigh Santos (9) shares how she will spend her day on Valentine’s Day. “I like spending time with my family and my friends on that day,” Santos said. “Since I don’t have a valentine, I think I’m going to spend my time doing something fun with my friends.”

5. Valentine’s is not only a holiday to spread kindness with friends or significant others but also with family members. This year, Robby Alexandrov (12) said he is planning to give his parents gifts for Valentine’s Day.

6. Evelyn Tsai (10) is asked if she liked celebrating Valentine’s Day. “I think it’s nice just to show appreciation to people we love or your friends and family. Also being able to spend time with the people you love,” Tsai said.

7. For many, like Xander Marshall (12), sweets are the first thing that comes to mind when they think of Valentine’s Day. “I love all the candy and hearts in stores, if I had Valentine’s I would get some from her,” Marshall said.
