Mr. Todd Pannett coaches girls varsity golf, where a practice starts out with getting loose before playing nine holes and practicing different shots.
Pannett says that a player he values the most is a player who “wants to get better.”
Girls varsity volleyball is coached by Mr. Tom Schaefer. He believes that the players have to motivate themselves in practice.
“The reason they are there is they love the sport,” Schaefer said.
Schaefer values effort and intensity most in a player.
The best part about coaching is “working with the kids and getting to know them outside the classroom,” Schaefer said.
Mr. Kevin Fober is serving as the new swim coach this year replacing former English teacher Mr. Kevin Mabie.
“I use a lot of different techniques,” Fober said. “We start out by emphasizing that everybody should have goals.”
The team swims every day after school, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, plus dry land practice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
“Aside from practicing, a good swimmer must also have talent, strength, self motivation, and flexibility,” Fober said.
Because every swimmer is different, Fober uses a lot of different coaching techniques during practice to accommodate everyone.
“Motivation has to come from within,” Fober said. “Some guys need to be pushed, and some need to be pulled.”
