Boys Varsity soccer defeated Parkway West in the district title game at Westminster on Thursday.
Senior Alex Whalen broke the tie scoring a goal assisted by Ben Mendel in the first half. The game remained tied for a while, but the Parkway West Longhorns eventually tied the game in the second half.
The game remained tied for a while, forcing the game to go into overtime. In the second overtime, Junior Ben Mendel scored the game winning goal.
“It felt great scoring the game winning goal” said Mendel. “The game just happened to go the way we wanted it to.”
This game wasn’t a boring, un-lively game; it was action packed.
“The game was crazy and exciting” said Head Coach John Theobald. “I was getting a little riled up there, it was a very intense game, but I am happy as can be that we were able to fight our way through it.”
The playoffs continue for the Colts, their next game is scheduled on November 6th at home against Ladue High School at 6:00 P.M.
