In the home-opener for the boys basketball team against Parkway North the team won the game 45-42 holding the three point lead for the last 45 seconds of the game. Junior Nathan Biggs led the team scoring 14 points, and next was sophomore Jarrett Cox-Bradley who led the backcourt with 9 points.
“The highlight of the game was looking at my teammates and seeing how hard they’ve worked,” Cox-Bradley said.
Throughout the course of the game, the team as a whole shot 33 percent picking up the scoring after only 5 points in the first quarter.
Junior Connor Kraus led the team in shooting percentage making 2 out of his attempted 4 shots. The team also went 11 of 14 from the free throw line. They had a total of 23 rebounds in the game, along with 14 turnovers compared to 7 assists. However, they also had 4 steals and 5 blocks.
“We feel if we play harder every game, it enhances our chances to win,” Coach Rick Kirby said. “You’re only as good or bad as your last game.”
As for the rest of the season, Cox-Bradley has high hopes for their success and unity as a team. “Something special about the team this year is that we don’t have one spectacular player, we have a good group of guys that make up a pretty good basketball team,” he explained.
For this year, his goal is to stay positive and do what he can to help his team win.
“I’m looking forward to more work as a team this season,” Cox-Bradley said.
Coach Kirby is hoping we improve as players before the season ends.
“Basketball is one of the most grueling high school sports. One of our goals for the season is to outwork the opponent every time we play.” Kirby said.

This is a very nice article. I do also bvieele that sports is a intricate part of today’s society. I do not bvieele that sports is a necessity for a child’s life; however, through playing sports there are many life lessons learned as well.Through practice, these children learn the desire to want to succeed in life, at whatever they do. Which this attribute can go far in life.I have two younger sisters in which sports are prevalent in their lives. The amount of maturation they have made since playing these sports is remarkable. At the same time, I always enjoy to see the happiness and smiles on their faces as they succeed at whatever sport they are playing.Women sports are daily growing, and it is great to see their skills start to develop at a younger age.
