With her positive attitude and encouraging comments, senior Sana Khadim helps keep her peers motivated through cross-country, swimming, and lacrosse.
“I like to stay involved school,” Khadim said. “It helps me meet new people.”
While she is not officially a swimmer, Khadim works as the swim team manager to help swim coach Ms. Jennifer Meyer. Her job on the team is to record stats from different meets. In addition, Khadim helps run the touchpad system and computers at home meets. Meyer said that although she does not come to every practice, the swimmers enjoy having Khadim around during the meets.
“[Khadim] always stays positive,” Meyer said. “She is always in a good mood and that is really good quality to have around a team.”
In addition to staying a positive force on the swim team, Khadim also kept spirits up during cross-country season. During races, Khadim had to wear long sleeves and pants, even during hot weather. Because of this, Morris said that Khadim helped everyone stay motivated during long races because she was strong enough to finish.
“If you are having a bad workout she is always the one to push you to keep going and convince you that you are strong enough to finish,” Morris said. “She is the most dedicated out of all of us and I think I speak for the team when I say that.”
In addition to her participation in sports, Khadim has developed a passion for the arts. When she is not at practice or working at Schnucks, Khadim likes to complete different arts and crafts.
“I really enjoy painting random things,” Khadim said. “I also make scrapbooks and cards. It’s my creative comfort zone.”
After high school, Khadim plans to pursue a major in business and medicine, while minoring in art. Both Meyer and Morris believe that her determination will help her achieve all of her goals.
“[Khadim] taught me that you can accomplish anything if you truly set your mind to it,” Morris said.
