One of personable character and leadership, Zach Carel is a role model for what Parkway Central strides students to become. Not only do his athletics reveal great talent on the field, but also the kindness that every individual should strive for. Throughout his high school life, he has been a participant in LEAD, NEHS, Peer Teaching, and Project Help just to name a few.
“I know not all of them listen, but if I can inspire one kid to make good choices, then the programs will have been worth it,” Carel said.
He has not only inspired those younger than him, but also his peers at school. Zach has enhanced all of the opportunities that Central has offered including participating on Varsity Basketball and Baseball.
“I feel my greatest high school achievement is being able to balance sports with school and still maintain a healthy social life. Breaking out of my shell didn’t take long, and I’ve never regretted it. High school is important, but you’ve got to enjoy it because it absolutely flies by,” Carel said.
Although the next football game is months off, it is likely that the crowd will be missing a key member. Carel is an enthusiast of Parkway Central and is not afraid to awaken the crowd at sporting events.
“Maybe at a football game next year the underclassmen will be surprised at how quiet it is,” Carel said.
He has left a permanent impact on Parkway Central both athletically and by the leadership he has shown. This year Zach took on the role of Head Editor of the Yearbook which is a job only for the individual who possess poise and respect while directing a group of people. His character is one that Central students will remember and try to follow for the rest of their high school career.
