Jade Thomas moved to St. Louis from inner-city Memphis, Tennessee during October of her junior year. Now a senior, Thomas can be seen walking the halls fashioning her iconic all-black ensembles.
“I started dressing like this when I was ten years old,” Thomas said. “I thought it was so cool then, and I’ve just stuck to it since.”
While she didn’t begin fashioning her all-black-everything style until fifth grade, Thomas jokes that she was destined to fashion this unique look from a very young age.
“When I was a toddler, my mom found me in a closet with a tub of black icing,” Thomas said. “I was eating it with my hands and was covered head-to-toe in black icing. It was like an omen for what was to come.”
Following graduation, Jade plans to major in pre-medicine and hopes to eventually specialize in hematology, the study of blood.
