A big part of freshman year, for some people, is beginning to pursue interests. For freshman Kazu Gavin, he seems to have already found those interests.
“My family eats rice every day so I have gotten really good at using chopsticks,” Gavin said. “One time, in elementary school, my teacher had a bowl of marbles and said that whoever picked the most marbles out won and I got the most.”
Chopsticks is just a part of the Japanese culture that Gavin enjoys. His culture has opened him up to other hobbies as well.
“My mom has this book of origami techniques, but it is in Japanese so I just looked at the pictures to teach myself how to do it,” Gavin said.
