Being a freshman on a varsity team, there is always a learning curve on the field. But in Cameron Baird’s case, there was a learning curve in the lingo used by his teammates.
“It was kind of weird at first because I didn’t get any of their references,” Baird said. “I didn’t know what they were talking about a lot of the time.”
A specific memory of not understanding lingo stands out to him the most.
“One time at the beginning of the year I said something and Dan (Rasmussen) said something back, and Dean Trail says ‘Oh Cam you just got flamed’ and I didn’t know what that meant at first.”
Although there was a learning curve with the lingo, he bonded with his teammates well, and one of their ways of bonding was going to eat at Global Quesadilla with his teammates.
“It was kind of nice after a game to just relax at Global and the food is really good there too, so it was a perfect place.”
